Sam grew up in Northern California, where she began exploring the Sierras at a young age. It is in the Sierras and around Lake Tahoe that her love for wildlife and the outdoors sparked. She later attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where she obtained her B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Here she further developed her love for wildlife while working with the University’s Aquatic Ecosystems Analysis Lab and Animal Ark, the local wildlife sanctuary. It is at the Sanctuary and in her college Ornithology class where her interest in birds of prey began. She is now excited and anxious to further her knowledge of raptors.
