This Prairie Falcon was found unable to fly in Iona, Idaho. Upon arriving at Teton Raptor Center, a laceration was found on the bird's right thigh and we determined it had sustained a right coracoid (similar to our collarbone) fracture. Additionally, we found signs of emphysema around the neck and right leg (birds have several air sacs that connect to their lungs throughout their body. These air sacs assist with respiration during flight), and we believe these injuries are the result of a car strike.

Update: A wing/body wrap was applied to stabilize the fracture. The laceration on the leg has been bandaged and is regularly checked and cleaned.Donate Now!
