Turkey Vulture

This bird was admitted to Teton Raptor Center due to lead poisoning in his blood. He is currently undergoing a treatment called chelation which will remove heavy metals from the blood. Turkey vultures, being scavengers, likely digested something that was shot and killed with lead ammunition. Even the smallest and tiniest lead fragment can debilitate or even cause fatality in a strong and healthy bird.
