Allison grew up in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, and has had a lifelong admiration and appreciation of the natural world. Allison moved to the Pacific Northwest to attend The Evergreen State College where she received a B.S. in Ecology. She has explored many facets of natural science, including evolutionary biology, botany, mycology, and her favorite, ornithology. Her research interests began in mycology, when she surveyed fungal communities in threatened ecosystems, but her personal passion drew her towards birds, and she has since worked on a number of research projects including songbird ecology in Olympic peninsula rainforests, breeding seabirds in Puget Sound, raptor surveys and raven telemetry in sagebrush country. She is delighted to be back in Wyoming to continue her passion of working with birds. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, biking, and exploring the outdoors with her companion pup, Boulder.
