Bald Eagle

This mature Baldy came to us from Opal, Wyoming with severe soft tissue damage to the left elbow. The feathers and skin around this area were damaged, and the entirety of the joint exposed. Fortunately, this bird had no broken bones and had a healthy BCS. Sutures for the elbow were placed where possible, and wrapped with sterile gauze to keep bacteria/sand out.

Update: This patient has a solid appetite, has finished antibiotics, is perching in the mew, and receiving a wrap change every few days with light PT.
