This male American Kestral came into our clinic after the finders saw it stuck on a barbed wire fence. The bird was alert and flappy, but appeared to have a wing injury which turned out to be a clean amputation of the left digits. Since this bird is missing half the flight feathers on one wing, it is unreleasable. We are treating for any potential pain as well as preventative antibiotics
Update: This kestrel has been moved to a large mew where it can move around, and is waiting on Education placement!
