This baby Barn Owl was admitted to Teton Raptor Center after his or her parents abandoned their nest. This chick had 5 other brothers or sisters who unfortunately didn't survive. Baby barn owls typically hatch in the early part of spring so it was very abnormal for a nest of barn owl chicks to be found so soon before winter. This baby is being raised here at Teton Raptor Center carefully so that he or she will not imprint on humans. Staff hope to be able to successfully release the bird once it is able to hunt and catch food on its own.
Update: This young barn owl has improved both her flying and hunting capabilities through practice. She is learning fast how to thrive once released back into the wild.
