Red-tailed Hawk

This Red-tailed Hawk collided with a car in Smoot, Wyoming and was found on the side of the highway unable to fly away. Luckily some good Samaritans found the bird, called our Raptor Hotline, and were able to assist in transport to our center in Wilson! After a thorough exam the patient was diagnosed with both head and body trauma, along with trauma in it's right eye. The bird is receiving eye drops three times a day to help with lubricating the eye and preventing any infections or ulcers from forming.

Update: The bird underwent flight conditioning and was able to do 15 flights each 100 feet long. However the bird is having problems passing it's live prey test due to scar tissue in the back of the right eye. The bird will remain on anti-inflammatory medication.
