This hawk was admitted to TRC after being found on the ground. She has a fracture on the left side of her pelvis and an old gunshot wound in her neck. The bullet is lodged in her cervical vertebrae but is not causing any issues for her eating and swallowing. She has lead poisoning from the bullet so will be treated for heavy metal poisoning.
Update: This bird was taken in to the vet to get the bullet surgically removed. However, the bullet is so close to the birds trachea that it was a risky procedure. Staff will provide chelation therapy and determine if there are any lead levels after therapy.
