This juvenile Swainson's Hawk was found on the side of the road unable to fly, most likely the bird collided with a car. Upon admit the bird was very dirty with tattered feathers and blood in the right eye. X-rays showed a possible fracture in the Coracoid but with neither wing drooping no wing wrap is required! Treatment includes anti-inflammatory medication and cage rest.
Update: Recent x-rays show nice callousing around the Coracoid fracture, so this bird has been moved to a large mew and started flight conditioning! The bird is currently doing 7-9 flights every other day.
