American Kestrel

This approximately 2-3 month old male American Kestrel was admitted after it was seen flying through a window screen. Staff new the bird was a male due to his blue wings, while female kestrels have a rusty brown wing. The bird was unstable on its feet and unable to fly. X-rays showed no broken bones, just some bruising throughout its body. Treatment includes time in Oxygen and fluids to help the bruising and head trauma.

Update: This bird perked up almost immediately once in Oxygen and given some time to recover! The bird self-feed quickly and was standing alert and feisty soon afterwards! This bird was returned to its original nest with its parents and siblings!
