SCHEDULE: Minimum 10-15 hours per week/2 days per week with some evenings on-call.

The Rehabilitation Internship is an opportunity to learn about raptor rehabilitation through direct, hands-on work in our raptor rehabilitation clinic. This position is available for those looking for an introduction to a career in wildlife rehabilitation. The applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, learn new skills quickly, and be self-motivated. Training will begin with a focus on husbandry and an introduction to the handling of wild raptors, an essential part of the rehabilitation process. Depending on the skill level and abilities of the applicant, training can progress into triage, wound management, administering medications, physical therapy, equipment use and flight conditioning of wild raptors. Interns will also work on an independent project during the commitment. This position is ideal for a senior in high school, active college student, or a beginning professional looking for rehabilitation experience.

Must 18 years old or older
Strong attention to detail
Strong work ethic, punctual, and a self-starter
Willing to handle raptor food which includes dead mice, rats, quail, and rabbits
Ability to work independently and with a team
Must be able to work in all weather conditions
Clear communication style (in person and on the telephone)
Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
Daily raptor care
Cleaning of enclosures
Handling of rehab patients
Food preparation and feeding
Coordination of patient transport to TRC
Medication administration/on-going patient evaluation
Small Animal (live mouse, rat, and possibly songbird) care
After-hour med administration and patient triage
Independent projects as assigned

May be used for academic credit. The intern is responsible for making arrangements to receive necessary credits
