Running January 12 – December 18, 2026, the Raptor Care Intern will be responsible for ensuring avian ambassadors and patients are cared for in accordance with TRC’s protocols, all state and federal wildlife regulations, and TRC permits under the direction of the Roost Coordinator and Clinic Coordinator. The primary work environments for the Raptor Care Intern will be in the Clinic, Patient Care Unit and Flight Barn to provide and learn about the care and treatment of raptor patients, and the Roost – home to eleven permanent avian ambassadors. In addition to these duties, the Raptor Care Intern will support delivery of TRC’s education programs and engage in program logistics, communications, and other projects. The season and program demand will play a role in the division of labor. Teton Raptor Center cares for birds 365 days a year. The Raptor Care Intern is expected to share out responsibilities working weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Running January 12 – December 18, 2026, this unique year-long internship targets an early-career professional eager to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit conservation work. This immersive position provides broad exposure to TRC’s mission — advancing raptor conservation through education, research, and rehabilitation — while emphasizing communications, storytelling, and public engagement.
The intern will work across departments and support the organization’s communications and marketing efforts by developing compelling digital content, assisting with outreach campaigns, representing TRC at events, and helping to tell the stories of raptors, science, and community impact. This internship is ideal for a strong communicator who is excited about conservation, science communication, and the behind-the-scenes operations of a dynamic nonprofit.
We’re looking for someone who is curious, adaptable, team-oriented, and ready to jump into a dynamic, mission-focused environment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Veterinary Externship is an opportunity to learn about raptor rehabilitation through direct, hands-on work in our raptor rehabilitation clinic. This position is available for students in vet school. The season will dictate the focus of the work. During the busy season (May – September), the majority of time will be spent working directly with the birds in the clinic. During the slower period (October – April), there will be elements of raptor care but there will also be a focus on protocol development, research, writing case studies, and data collection. TRC does not have a veterinarian on staff but works closely with local veterinarians. We have a suite of impressive diagnostic tools and medical equipment including digital x-ray, oxygen chamber, blood chemistry analyzer, cold laser therapy, and more. Externs will become proficient in the use of all these pieces of equipment as well as the diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and injuries.
