This one-year Raptor Conservation Internship runs from December 1 – November 15 each year. It is an opportunity to become immersed in the work of a vibrant and growing conservation organization. This holistic experience includes exposure to all program areas at TRC including education, research, and rehabilitation, with additional opportunities to explore the operations and communications aspects of a nonprofit.

This one-year Research Internship runs from December 1 – November 15 each year. The Raptor Research Internship is an opportunity to become immersed in the work of a vibrant and growing conservation organization. This experience includes being closely involved with a variety of unique field research projects, with additional opportunities to explore the rehabilitation, education, operations, and communications aspects of a nonprofit. TRC actively conducts 8-12 field research projects across Wyoming and Montana and this position will be involved in most ongoing projects (see website for project details). We are looking for someone who is looking to create a career in wildlife science, is dedicated, curious, enthusiastic, and ready to roll-up their sleeves to work hard, deepen the work of raptor conservation, and be part of a passionate team.

This one-year Rehab Internship runs from March 1 – February 15 each year. We are looking for someone who is curious, enthusiastic, and ready to roll up his or her sleeves to work hard, deepen the work of raptor conservation, and be part of a passionate team. This is an excellent opportunity to build your experience handling and working with over 23 raptor and corvid species. Your role will also include support of communications and campus stewardship. This internship experience is multifaceted and will provide training, mentorship, and opportunities in rehabilitation practices (including medical treatment, patient care, food preparation, field rescues and transport) and social media communications.

This one-year Education Internship runs from March 1 – February 15 each year. It is an exciting opportunity to take our education programs to the next level as we open our dedicated education space in the Historic Hardeman Barn to the public for year-round programming. The primary role of the year-long, education intern is to support the care and training of our Avian Ambassadors and the education programs. The education intern will help tailor our interpretive programs based on the age and learning needs of participants. This experience will also include delivering programs on- and off-site and support of communications and campus stewardship.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Veterinary Externship is an opportunity to learn about raptor rehabilitation through direct, hands-on work in our raptor rehabilitation clinic. This position is available for students in vet school. The season will dictate the focus of the work. During the busy season (May – September), the majority of time will be spent working directly with the birds in the clinic. During the slower period (October – April), there will be elements of raptor care but there will also be a focus on protocol development, research, writing case studies, and data collection. TRC does not have a veterinarian on staff but works closely with local veterinarians. We have a suite of impressive diagnostic tools and medical equipment including digital x-ray, oxygen chamber, blood chemistry analyzer, cold laser therapy, and more. Externs will become proficient in the use of all these pieces of equipment as well as the diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and injuries.
