Backyard Conservation

The focus of March’s Winged Wednesday was “Backyard Conservation,” where we highlighted ten simple ways for everyone to support raptor conservation efforts, along with explanations of how and why these actions matter. Birds all over the world need our help, including raptors here in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. While the list of “10 Ways to Help Raptors” isn’t exhaustive, it serves as a starting point for implementing easy, everyday changes that can have a significant impact.

One of the 10 ways to help raptors is to plant native plants! Not only does this improve habitat but it also helps reduce the spread of invasive species. We were fortunate to have Phoebe Coburn, TRC Board Member and owner of a native plant gardening business, and Morgan Graham of Teton Conservation District to speak about native plants in Teton County and ways to get access to native plant seeds! This month’s program was sponsored by Graham-Faupel-Mendenhall & Associates.

Join us on the first Wednesday of every month for a free Winged Wednesday with a different topic each month. Next month will be all about Raptor ID!
