A Sense of Place – The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) stands as one of the few remaining intact temperate-zone ecosystems on our planet. Designated as a World Heritage Site, it holds immense global significance. Encompassing parts of three states, it includes Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, surrounded by six National Forests, three National Wildlife Refuges, tribal lands, and a mix of public and private lands. This diverse landscape is home to over 300 species of birds, 70 species of mammals, as well as amphibians and other wildlife.

Teton Raptor Center is proud to call the GYE home, where we conduct vital research, provide compassionate care, and educate the public about the intricate relationships between raptors and our diverse natural habitats. Through our work, we aim to deepen understanding and respect for this unique region, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to the protection and conservation of all raptor species inhabiting and surrounding the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
