Ambassador Spotlight: Pava
Summer has brought a surge of activity to Teton Raptor Center’s rehabilitation clinic. Each year, our clinic sees an increasing number of raptor admissions, and 2024 is no exception. Back in 2018, we admitted a total oPava’s journey with us began on August 31, 2021, when she was admitted to our rehabilitation clinic after a car collision left her completely blind in her left eye. Despite extensive treatment for her injuries, her blindness made it impossible for her to hunt and survive in the wild, leading to her being deemed non-releasable. However, her calm demeanor, young age, and comfort around people made her an ideal candidate for a new role: an avian ambassador.
On March 24, 2022, Pava officially joined our education team, ready to inspire the public about raptor conservation. In just three years, Pava has captivated over 38,500 individuals and participated in more than 570 programs—a remarkable feat for a bird her age! Our staff and volunteers feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside her.
While we wish Pava could live in the wild where she belongs, we are grateful for the opportunity to share her story. She not only helps raise awareness about the challenges raptors face but also encourages others to take action. Join us for one of our programs, and you might get the chance to meet Pava in person—she’s truly a superstar!
