More than 20 years ago, kindergartner Sammy met Owly, Teton Raptor Center’s first Avian Ambassador, and declared, “One day, I’m going to work with a bird like that.”

That dream became a reality as Sammy progressed from a young program participant to a volunteer, intern, and seasonal staff member—eventually working with Owly herself. Though she has since taken her talents to conservation programs across the country, her impact lives on in our Learning Lab, where visitors use the handcrafted raptor jugs she created to experience the true weights of avian ambassadors.
