Volunteers Make a Difference
During the first week of July, Teton Raptor Center was fortunate enough to host a JET (Job Experience Training) Intern through our partnership with City Kids. Esther was assigned to us for her interest in working with wildlife or animals. She shadowed our staff in the clinic and in the Roost to provide husbandry to our avian ambassadors and patients. She supported food prep and cleaning, observed training sessions with our ambassador birds, and went on a raven rescue! She even had the opportunity to hold a baby kestrel patient that came in due to being orphaned. Esther also assisted by providing support for our Raptors on Refuges program at the National Elk Refuge.
VOLUNTEER GROUPS
‘Tis the season for larger groups to reach out and express interest in service projects with us! We kicked off the service groups on June 6th with ten employees from Vail Resorts. They were able to clean and replace sand within the patient enclosures, dusted and reorganized education materials, deep cleaned various buildings, removed thistles, and installed window decals on bird enclosures.
In July, we hosted a second group of employees from Vail Resorts. They filled seven bags with weeds pulled from around the bird buildings and then cleaned and tidied a couple fleet vehicles. We are grateful for all of our ambassadors and for partnerships with organizations that promote service learning projects within the community.
